9 Ways to Earn Extra Cash From Home
1. Wag or Spot
If you want some extra cash and you like animals, apply to be a dog-walker with Wag (it’s only available in the US). Wag will set you up with dog owners who need someone to take their canine for a stroll.
When there’s a dog-walking job available, Wag will send you a text message to let you know so you can earn some money.
If you’re in CANADA, try Spot – it’s a similar app that pays $10-$16 per walk with driving bonuses.
With Instacart you can earn money while helping people shop for groceries. You can be an in-store shopper (no vehicle required) or a full-service shopper who shops and then delivers groceries to the client.
This is an awesome and flexible way to earn money, and it allows you to make your own schedule.
Do you have a basement suite or an extra room ? If so, you could be making money by renting out your space on AirBnB.
Even if you are using all your spaces currently, get creative and think about how you could rent them out.
Your Summer Vacation – Are you taking a week-long vacation this summer? Try renting out your house while you’ll be away. You could pay for your vacation this way!
Tourist Season – Is there a popular event/time of year that brings tourists to your city? Why not stay with family or get a cheap hotel for 2 weeks. You could make a good chunk of change renting out your whole house to tourists.
Rent Your Trailer– Another space you can rent out is your camp trailer! Not keen on letting somebody drive your trailer? Find a popular campsite near you and offer to park the trailer at your customers’ site for them. Or park it on YOUR property and rent it out as a sleeping space.
4. Take care of an extra child
If you’re a stay at home mum like me, consider watching another child during the week. This is a great to way earn extra cash from home.
Watching one additional kid is not as overwhelming as running an entire daycare, and really, what’s one more if you already have a kid or two at home.
With only one extra, you can still accomplish much of your day normally, but you’ll be bringing in up to $800 extra a month for full-time care (possibly more depending on where you live).
5. Exchange Student
If you have a spare bedroom in your home, or even if you could MAKE one of your bedrooms a spare, consider taking in an exchange student. You’ll be given a stipend of $600-$700/month (in Canada at least) and in exchange you’ll provide food and a home for a student.
Obviously some of that monthly stipend will go towards food and utilities for the student, but it’s likely there will be a lot left over to help your budget.
Survey Junkie is a survey site with a higher reputation than most…though it IS still a survey site. It won’t make you rich, but if you dedicate time to it consistently you can make a bit of cash to pad your budget.
After you earn money by answering surveys, they’ll put that money into your paypal account OR turn it into e-gift cards.
Swagbucks is another survey site, it’s probably more well-known than most. Some people successfully make a small some side-income with Swagbucks, but again, it won’t earn you a lot of money.
With Swagbucks you can earn money by taking surveys, playing games, using their search engine, and more – at the very least you could use their search engine and make money passively that way.
Ebates is another great way to earn extra cash regularly. This one WON’T make you a full income or even a reliable side income, BUT it will give you some of your hard-earned money back.
For example, I shop on Amazon all the time, and Ebates often offers 3%-5% cashback on purchases there.
Sometimes they’ll even have a 10% cashback offer for certain stores! It’s well-worth your time to go and check out ebates before you shop.
9. Checkout 51
Checkout 51 is another way to get cashback on things you’re already buying, except this app is focused on groceries, whereas Ebates focuses mostly on non-food items.
And, it’s super easy to use. Just download the app, look at your offers to see if you’ve purchased anything that qualifies, and take a picture of your receipt.
When your account gets to $20, they’ll send you the money. AND, there are always diaper deals, so that’s pretty awesome for the parents out there!
